One Pup, Hundred Thousand Grasses

Rolin pushed through the long grasses which grazed his fur as he sped past. He was zig-zagging through the plains, laughing with joy. His brother, Malik, was somewhere behind but there was no point in looking, Rolin couldn't see two feet ahead of him, much less behind.
Malik! Come on!
His small paws worked like crazy, they were a rusty-red blur below his body. His small bodice pushed forward as the grass grew thicker, and the pup guessed he was in the middle of the plains by now. Where was Malik?
The pup skidded to a stop, suddenly overwhelmed. He was alone and he couldn't see anything! Rolin began to call for his brother, loudly.
Malik! Where are you? Malik!
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea...

"Rolin?" The last thing Malik knew, he was running behind his brother. He hadn't realized how short he was... and how tall the grass had grown. "Rolin, where are-- OOMPH!" Malik stumbled over a protruding rock. He lay there for a moment, regaining his bearings. He seemed to be alright as he stood up and started running once more, calling his brother's name. As soon as panic was about to take over his little mind, Malik ran right into Rolin. The collision sent him sprawling, but at least he had found his brother.

"Rolin, I lost you for a moment!" Malik was relieved. Then another problem sank in. He looked around briefly, and then back to his brother. "The only thing is... do you know where we are?" The grass was so tall, and Malik had no sense of direction whatsoever. He had been so excited about running as far away as he could from the dens to explore and see something new that he had forgot about the way back.

^{Rolin, speechless with relief and shock, stumbled to his feet, after being knocked to the ground by this brother.
Of course I know where we are... Rolin said, trying to seem confident. I mean, if I didn't know where we are we would be... lost... which we most defiently aren't...
Rolin looked desperatly around. He couldn't see anything above the long grasses, no trees to point him in the right direction and the grasses' musky scent covered anything else.
My power...?
It was doubtful, using water wasn't going to help here, but he could try.
Malik, stand back. I'm going to try to... flatten the grasses.
He stepped back himself before closing his eyes. Focusing on the part of his mind that hadn't been used forever it seemed he unleashed the Wolf God's gift. A small sprout of water appeared, spurting from the ground. But, Rolin realized as he opened his eyes for more concerntration, the ground was as dry as a desert, there was barely any water to use.
Rolin let the water sink back into the earth, leaving a small damp spot on the dirt.
Ahem... He coughed nervously.
Why did I chose the plains?
Oh! This way! Chosing a direction at random, the pup moved towards "Akali" Territory. But little did he know, he was leading his brother straight into the Assassin's Turf.}

Alice walked to the two pups but hid be hide a tree " I don't want Malik there!" she looked down "I have to give it other try" she whispered to her self "and I can read his mind to know the truth" she giggled solfly she looked at the two pups "I can't do it" she said that a little loud she put her paw over her mouth and hid her head be hide the tree she closed her eyes waiting for something to happen,

Malik watched Rolin's attempt to flatten the grass. He couldn't resist a snicker when the little puddle was all Rolin got. He followed his brother, unconvinced that he had any idea where they were going. He just hoped that they were traveling in the right direction.

Then he started to notice that the grass was thinning. Could they be back at the dens? But no, they weren't greeted by the comforting setting of the dens. Instead the grass thinned and became very gray, as if the color was slowly draining out of the world. "Rolin... I don't think we went the right way," he said, keeping his voice low. The air felt colder here, the heat of the sun suddenly gone. The soil was turning harder under Malik's paws. He slowed, sniffing the air. It smelled dead. Suddenly he felt afraid. Wherever they were, it wasn't good.

^{Rolin had noticed that as well, as the grey-scale seemed to be taken to the extreme over here. This wasn't Akali forest...

Uh... Malik? Where are we? Rolin was done being leader, he had already messed up their course enough, he didn't want to take responsibility anymore.
He looked back feverishly almost, frantic for a way back.
This WASN'T Akali territory...
But the grasses, once flattened to make way for the two brothers, were now standing up straight, a wall blocking them from escaping. They were in danger, and he knew it.
Malik... He said, his voice a small and frightened whisper. I want Mommy...}

Rolin was shoved to the ground before he could finish his thinking. He began to wiggle from underneath the weight, figuring it was an Assassin. But, as he began to calm down, he recived a lick to the cheek. He laughed with relief.
It wasn't a blood-loving Assassin but Alice.
Alice! He said, jumping to his paws. He batted her ear playfully a smile on his lips. He forgot all of his worries and looked into her eyes. He forgot where he was, and what danger he was in. But then... it all rushed back with such force that he stumbled back.
Alice! He barked, his tone not of happiness anymore. But of fear and slightly anger. Alice, why did you follow us here? You're in danger! His fur was fluffed up with fear for his friend, what if they all were... killed?}

She fell to the ground and smiled she got up and looked at him then down "well I had to, I need to see you I missed you," she looked at him then walked forward "We need to leave though as fast as we can" she looked around "the assassins are planing something, something to do with us" she backed away "my powers picked it up thats all I see" she looked at Malik "hi" then back at her one friend that she can trust she sniffed the air "Rolin, I can smell something funny" she stuck her noise in the air and moved it around she stopped and opened her eyes she walked to Rolin slowly "there here" she wisped so soft she couldn't even hear it she wished that he got what she was saying,

Malik was indeed glad to see Alice, but his relief didn't last long. He darted next to her, alert and terrified. He sniffed the air. There was indeed something close by. He scanned the nearby foliage, looking for any hints of red. He had always been told that if you see a red wolf, the chances are they are Dark Assassins, and chances are, they are out to kill you. He knew that they loved feasting on pups, and that made him even more scared. He didn't know what to do, but at least he wasn't in this alone.

He focused where the suffocating smell was drifting from. And then suddenly, the scent became fainter, the wolf left.
It's gone. Relief flooded his response, he hadn't realized he had been holding his breath until he sighed.
He turned towards Alice. That's all you say? They're always planning something. I know that... Fear made him shiver. He knew it now, he had to face it.
I led my friends and brother to their deaths... He thought sorrow and realization gripping him cold.
I'm--I'm--I'm sorr--sorry. He choked out, sniffing back tears. It's my fault...
He turned back to the cold, disparring trees in front of him.
And suddenly hoped seemed to flare inside of him. Maybe... maybe we can make it back! We can survive! All we have to do is... go back to Momma and Dadda. And Morrowind for you, Alice. We just need to make it back to Akali territory. But how? He paused from his constant babbling. And then he answered his own question. I think we can take a chance...
He paused again, unsure. Why am I taking charge again? It didn't help last time...}

"Oh Rolin, it's alright. You didn't know," Malik said, trying to comfort his brother. He felt a twinge of anger at him for taking charge, because where had it led them? He made a mental note to never let Rolin take charge again. "But where can we go? We may just end up getting more lost. And what if Fydo sent out a party to find us? If we move, then we could miss them. We may have a better chance of being found if we stay in one place," he said his idea, looking at the two of them. "We just have to hide from them," he cast a glance into the forest, and quickly averted his eyes. He didn't want to look, for the fear of what he might see lingering in the darkness.

^{Rolin looked from Alice then to his brother. Was there a flash of anger or regret there in Malik's eyes? Rolin, feeling ashamed, looked at his paws.
I'm sorry, Malik. He said, his voice so quiet only his brother could hear. He kept his eyes focused on his paws. They were going to die, it was clear there was an Assassin in the woods just ahead, the scent was wreathing around him like a noose.
Where should we hide, Malik? He asked, clearly giving his brother the control. He never looked up from his dirted paws, glaring at a small bug at his paws. His teeth were clenched together at fury, but not fury for anyone but himself.
How could I have been so stupid? I want to be beta, but how am I going to do that when I almost led my friend and brother to their death?!}

Alice was frightened so much she padded to Rolin and rubbed beside him she sat close to him, "lets go over in the trees" she pointed to a bunch of trees, she started to walk to them then stopped to wait for them,
