The shadows of the dead trees stretched long over the coarse soil. Their dark limbs hung in forlorn positions, as if they were weeping or reaching out. Among these decrepit shapes, were six wolves. Assassins by nature, selected for a mission that was sure to lead to the destruction of the accursed Akali pack.
Grath was one of these wolves. The black and red wolf stood among the others: Assyria, the blood red wolf with the necklace of teeth hanging about her neck. Zena, a black, white and red assassin whom Grath couldn't stand. Fireball, the warm hearted pup raised to kill. Blow, the new wolf chosen for the mission to prove her loyalty and use. And finally, Spade, the rusty red wolf with whom he got along so well.
Grath decided to speak up first. "We're going to need to disguise all of our scents so the pups can't tell we're enemies. We shall send the one who appears to be kindest to the pups, while we hide a short distance away. The one sent out will deceive the pups by offering have food and shelter, and we will capture all of them once they get within reach." he explained this to the five others, his golden, serious eyes assessing each of them. "So who here has an idea how to get rid of our scents?"

A low growl came behind them. "I will not be left behind, I have done that too much". It was Malaria. She gave them a look that said, "if you say no I will kill you" and lept ahead of them. Brushing against Grath, she raced toward some fox dirt and rolled in it. "Roll in it and hurry up or you might as well go back," Malaria snarled low and deep. Her voice was very low because she was an assassian and most likely always threatening sounding. The wolf waited impatiently for the others to follow her lead. It was hard to get the doofus wolves to do anything she said but now she knew how to make them.

Fireball glared at Malaria. "Fator didn't choose you! You're NOT coming!" His ears were pinned back, and his tail was rigid with annoyance. "Besides, Fox Dung may disquise our scent, but it will make us scentable. The pups will smell the fox dung and refuse to follow us untill we wash the scent off, and when we do, they will know that we are assasians."

Malaria growled sarcastically, "well we won't be like 'oh, you sweet pups. want to come and follow us so we can capture you and maybe kill you? It would be so nice if you would be cooperative'". She turned stalked off toward came, whispering, "Fator-pet" and gave him a mean glare. Kicking dirty leaves so they blew in his face. Turning back Malaria disappeared into the darkness.
Away from the others, she growled, "I hope they die because they are too nice when it comes to pups. Being alone, her fur was blowing in the wind and getting caught in the bush. It was annoying.

Spade snarled and muttered to Grath, Thank God. We have enough wimps on out team. Seh scanned the wolves. Malaria was not needed. We have to many wolves already. She would not help. She cleared her throat brushing the thought away. We shall all travel thorugh the river then roll in the mud. Actually... She said re-thinking things. Vice versa. We shall roll through the mud then through the river so we won't be suspiciously dirty. She smiled and looked at Grath for approval.
Zena amirked. Malaria deserved that. He padded behind Spade and glared at her as she padded into the darkness. Bye, Malaria. I hope you die too. He laughed darkly and shurgged. No one would be sad at that death.

Fireball nodded excitedly and lept into the air with anticipation. Then he flattened his ears in embaresment. "Can I be the one to talk to the pups? Please?"

Grath immediately stepped away when Malaria brushed up against him. He watched the fight, quiet and angry that the wolf had had any thoughts of getting close to him. Malaria finally left, kicking a mound of dirty leaves in the alpha's face as she did so. He watched her disappear, hoping that a rabid bear would spring up and kill her in that instant.
He came back to reality when he heard Spade giving the plan. He stifled a smile, for he loved the way she addressed matters. She turned to him, questioning for approval. Grath kept a straight face and nodded once. "I like it," he said simply. Suddenly Fireball started jumping up and down in front of them, which took Grath aback. He watched, smirking at the pup's enthusiasm. "Hm." he thought about this. "The red pelt might be a bit of a problem." he looked to the others. "A lot of us have at least some red on our fur, and I bet the Akali wolves have all told their pups that it is one of the most obvious symbols of an Assassin."

Blood red eyes, glinting with amusement, watched the patrol of wolves. So, it takes them this long to go and fetch a few pups. He thought, stifling a throaty laugh. They have to get organized to go and snatch pups. Ha! He smiled slightly, his teeth still red from his most recent meal. They're just as pitiful as Eder had described them... but why had he joined this? His eyes focused on one the wolves, a female, with a necklace similar to his. She had far less teeth on her's, of course, but it still represented a killer. That must be Assyria, the one Eder was talking about... He remembered his telepathic conversation with his dear friend as he described the pack as pitiful expect for a few wolves. He noted the one jumping up and down with pup-like excitement as... his next dinner. He grinned at the thought. Although he had recently eaten, an elk wasn't his idea as a feast. Nothing was better than wolf blood, and Fireball seemed like a great choice. He could just lure the wolf away and murder him right then and there. Not now though, no. Once he joined this pitiful pack, he would. Staying hidden in the shadows, the loner watched with little intrest, thirst making his throat burn. [/sup]

Spade smiled at Grath and turned to the others. She stared at Fireball and walked around him. I agree with Grath. You're to red. I think Blow would be our better bet. She looked puzzlingly at Blow. Would she really know how to act though? She looked up at the sky. They still and time to make decisions. She sniffed the air and scented a strange scent. What was that? She crouched low and snarled. Who ever is there you can come out now. She growled, looking directly into the bush the stranger was hiding.

Grath nodded. "Blow is the best choice, if we want those pups to come with us." He too felt uneasy about it, considering Blow was just accepted. If she messed this up Fator would most likely kill her on the spot. Not that he cared about her, but he did care about getting the pups and completing the mission. Who knew, if one of them messed it up they could all be punished. His thoughts were interrupted when Spade growled. His eyes immediately fell on a dark shape in a nearby bush. Someone was spying on their conversation. His eyes narrowed, and a growl escaped from his mouth. "Come on out, stranger." he snarled, ready to kill if he needed to.

Cursing under his breath, Rouge refused to move into the light. He wouldn't follow some pitiful wolf's orders. Who is he to order me around?! Snarling slightly, he moved farther back into the bush. Sure, they had spotted him, but if anyone came near him, they would die instantly. He wasn't afraid to kill, like many of the other wolves gathered. He wanted to kill. A meancing smile played on his lips as the taste of wolf blood came to his mouth, although it was only an illusion. Not an illusion for long.

Spade snarled. Coward. If you didn't know, your o Assassins terra. You are obliged to follow our orders. Come out now. She crouched lower ready to tense but she could sense the wolves willingness and waited until he moved. She eyes the shape carefully summing him up all that she could. She was a smart and cautious fighter. That's how she won every battle she was in. She raised her head at Blows sudden movement. Blow! She lept forward catching the wolves tail and yanking her back letting her tumble head over heels on the ground.
