Rouge watched his companion carefully, as he always did. Her paw-steps, once bouncy and reassuring, slowed and stiffened. Her once free gaze was suddenly caught in a snare. Concerned, the male turned to stare at the blackned foliage they passed, not wanting to cause this female any more pain.

He was fine with silence, really. It just wasn't what he enjoyed most in life. But maybe Vi was different, maybe she longed for silenence and Rouge was just another thing in the way from that. So fine... I'll shut up...

But she spoke then, her voice liquid and smooth, quieter than before. As if she were speaking to the charred grass at her feet. Ya'know...?
