The forest was dark and green. It was still except for the rustle of the leaves in the wind and a scurrying animal. Fydo walked slowly, his face a mask of pure alertness and concentration. He scanned the forest floor, behind trees and rocks, even in a few hollow stumps. If he could find the pups before crossing the border it would make his life a whole lot easier.
As the party walked, the trees began to lose their leaves. They became crooked and thin, as if the life had been taken right out of them. Fydo turned to his party. "This is where the Akali terra meets the Assassin terra. Once we cross there may be no turning back. So I want one of you to go tell the rest of the pack that we're crossing." He paused, looking at the nine wolves awaiting his decision. "Voyez," Fydo started, "Go back and tell the others. If there is to be a battle, then I'll send another messanger. And if so happen to find the pups on your trip back, get them safe in the terra and then come back here. Good luck." He gave a deep nod to the wolf, hoping that he would be lucky enough to find them and there would be no bloodshed.
A small wind blew, bringing in the scent of Assassins. Fydo wrinkled his nose in disgust. The smell of death, decay, and blood. But there was something else. He brought his muzzle up a bit and sniffed the air.
He could smell Alice.

Voyez was surprised when Fydo spoke his name, he pricked his ears and turned his head, just a bit, as if he was confused. Me? But I'm ment to fight in the battle... that's where my end is! But, then again, I must follow my alpha's orders.
With a respectful nod, the black and green male began to back away. And shall I return, without the pups, after the pack recieves the message? He inquired, not wanting to miss the battle. The Wolf Gods told me; they said that my end is today. In the combat...

Streak looked into the Assasain, scanning the place with her eyes. All looked dead and decayed. It looked almost impossible for a mouse to live here, let alone a whole wolf pack. But she knew the Assasains were different. She hadn't been present at the first battle, but she knew that the Assasains were evil and hatred staring out of a wolf's eyes. She wondered at what she had heard about the first battle. She knew that their former leader, Akemosho, had killed the former leader of the Assasains, Arondr, and that Arondr had, with his last bit of strength, reached up and bit Akemosho's throat, thus killing him. But whatever else that had happened in that battle was a mystery to her. Suddenly, her ear swivled back to catch Fydo and Voyez's conversation. She wondered at Voyez's strange eagerness for battle. What was with him tonight. She padded up to the wolf and said, "If you're so worried about getting into that battle, I'll go back for you." She turned to Fydo. "Unless he'd be coming back anyway?"

Fydo paused. Voyez was indeed acting strangely, to be so eager for battle. But then again, this battle, if there was one, would be one of revenge. Revenge against the stolen pups in the hopes that they were still alive. He looked at Streak. "Voyez won't need to come back unless I send another messenger to the pack to inform of battle. Then all who are healthy and able to fight will cross the border and aid us in the battle." He paused. "I wouldn't worry about missing a battle, Voyez. My guess is that there's going to be one." He nodded Voyez off and turned away. "Is everyone ready?" he asked the party. "Then let's be off. And be as quiet as you can. And if you smell a pup, let me know so we can follow the scent." Fydo began walking slowly into the Assassin territory.
